People think the world is linear, that if they put in 8 hours of work, they’re gonna get 8 hours of output. Of course, the real world doesn’t work that way. It’s all about leverage and not linearity.
The guy running a grocery store works just as hard as Elon Musk, but he isn’t getting the same output as Musk.
“What you do, who you do it with and how you do — way more important than how hard you work.” — Naval Ravikant
The best way to work is to hunt like a lion, and not like a cow.
The best athletes work smartly and train in short bursts then rest and reflect. And as modern Intellectual Athletes, we need to function like athletes, which is:
We train hard,
then we sprint,
then we rest,
and then reassess,
And so, human beings aren’t meant for working 9-5, that’s how machines work.
Instead of working mediocre for a longer period, you should work with high focus in short bursts to produce high quality work for a similar pay, and then spend the rest of the time on yourself. Read, write, work on your hobbies. And this is how people will work in future.
